Fort De Soto Beach Park | Best Beaches near Orlando Florida | Beach Camping | Swim with Dolphins

Whether you are sitting on the beach or kayaking near the still water's edge at Fort De Soto, you find yourself absorbed in the abundance of natural beauty for as far as the eye can see. The complexity of the ecology is not immediately apparent, but the park offers the greatest diversity of systems just about anywhere. Emerging from the wealth of birdlife, sea life, wildlife and plant life is the majestic tapestry called Fort De Soto

Fort De Soto was named America’s Top Beach for 2009 by Trip Advisor, the world's largest online travel community. In 2005, “Dr. Beach,” named Fort De Soto the nation’s #1 Beach.

The park property was first purchased from the federal government in 1938 for $12,500. In 1941 the property was sold back to the federal government for $18,404 to be used as a gunnery and bombing range during World War II. The property was repurchased from the United States in 1948 for $26,500.

The 12-inch mortar battery, located at the fort for which the park was named, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Adding to the historical interest at Fort De Soto, two British breech-loading, rapid-fire rifles of 1890 vintage were installed in March 1982. Markers showing the original building locations and a Quartermaster Storehouse Museum add to the park's historic interest.

so a lot of people want to ask me like mike you're from California the beaches have to be so much nicer there why are you always talking about Florida and how awesome it is and what's crazy is a lot of people don't realize the only part of the beaches that are super nice in California are the beaches that are on the south side of California San Diego pretty much up to like caramel and even when you get to Carmel it's a little bit too cold the water is really cold but here in Florida the beaches on either side you can go up to Daytona cocoa side on the east coast get the Atlantic or you can head over to the gulf of Mexico which is not technically an ocean it's a gulf and you get these beautiful waters that are almost like bath water but just a little colder so they're so relaxing the water is like crystal clear basically it's like having a San Diego beach everywhere in the whole state some beaches so then it becomes a question which beaches are the best yes yes i do want to look at your collection what what are you going to do with all those i'm going to make necklaces whatever see

so it was a hit with the kiddos to come here to fort de soto park and i was five dollars to get in i mean we just hit one little area here the very bottom of the beach where there's this beautiful pier you can walk out on we got to see a dolphin uh come up about three or four times it was really cool um then we actually went down into the water here and swam and about 10 feet away dolphin started coming up it's just beautiful so my daughter got about 30 shells and she decided to start a business she's going to sell them and make little necklaces and it's a beautiful day in florida so

For Sale By Owner Marketing Toolkit - 10 Tips for Selling Your House On Your Own
By Michael Reid July 10, 2021
